Chipmunk Rescue: Pet Chipmunk Adoption / Rehoming
On this page we shall be showing all successfully rescued Chipmunks who will be available for Adoption (rehoming) or sponsorship. Before you take on a chipmunk as a pet, please think very carefully - don't keep a chipmunk just for the sake of having one. Although these small burrowing ground-squirrels are fairly easy to keep and make lovely pets, permanent care of chipmunks takes a lot of responsibility - and they do need quite a lot of space to exercise and run around. They also need their home to not only be safe, but SECURE! That means a good solid floor that they cannot burrow out from, and nothing can burrow its way in. We'll be giving lots of advice on this, as have done always. ~ ON HIBERNATION: In cooler climates a chipmunk will hibernate, especially when the weather becomes very cold. Their ability to do this can only take place if he/she has enough fat-reserves to do so; this is why those without - such as youngsters or late babies - must NEVER be put and kept in an outside housing enclosure during the Autumn and Winter. ~ If you or someone you know are unable to actually keep a chipmunk, then why not consider sponsoring ("adopting") one while in our care?
